We loved our Spanish movie watching experience lots, so decided to try it out English-wise. Since Edgar is interested in Russian culture, I chose “Love and Death” directed by Woody Allen, one of my favs.
We watched it with subtitles, so it would be easier for Edgar to understand what it was about. One of nicest smart intellectual comedies of all times, laughed our asses off. Strongly recommend you guys to check it out if you haven’t seen this one so far!
Here, I’m going to submit some on the greatest quotes:
“Countess Alexandrovna: You’re the greatest lover I’ve ever had.
Boris: I practice a lot when I’m alone.”
“Sonia: To love is to suffer. To avoid suffering one must not love. But then one suffers from not loving. Therefore, to love is to suffer; not to love is to suffer; to suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love. To be happy, then, is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy. Therefore, to be unhappy, one must love or love to suffer or suffer from too much happiness. I hope you’re getting this down.”
“Boris: Nothingness. Non-existence. Black emptiness.
Sonia: What did you say?
Boris: Oh, I was just planning my future.”
“Sonia: There are many different kinds of love, Boris. There’s love between a man and a woman; between a mother and son.
Boris: Two women. Let’s not forget my favourite.”
….and many-many more!
We had tones of fun, what for educational purposes — Edgar has tighten up his speaking skills and learnt a lot about Russia :3
