Meeting in a cafe (FIN-RUS)

Today we had our 3rd meeting.  We had plan A and B, but they were not possible today so we had to create plan C, so we went to a cafe in center of Tampere. Last time we were only speaking in Russian, so today we concentrated to Finnish. Julia had a Moomin comic book and she was reading and I helped to translate. That particular book was not so good because it had hard and unusual words and expressions which were not easy to translate. Hope she at least could learn something new. Our meeting was not long this time, because we had my two kids with us and they made the meeting a bit hard to concentrate.

Next time we will try to make plan A or B happen 🙂

First meeting

We had the first meeting today. We have met in Tampere’s Music Academy, in a little cafe. We’ve introduced and spoken about our countries, future professions, work, Finland and how we had learned English before.

I noticed that in this situation was easily to speak English then in lessons. I didn’t have a lot of practice in English but it was nice to speak with someone who know that I am learning English and it is not perfect.

Our topics was about our countries and we have found out home-places in map. It was great to find something together.

We have told each other about our life.

I think it is good way to study language when you can speak about anything in unofficial situation.

We have planned our next meetings and he wondered that I drive bike in winter.

HISTORY

19/02/2019
Today’s meeting topic is the history, the dutch teachers explained their presentation first, from the very beginning era when Netherlands not named that, and have changing their flags due to it belong to different Empires with times goes by. Their nation suffered a lot too, as the other countries, fight against from conquerors,Rome empire, and so on. And their original culture can date back to the 3000 BC,which is surprised me.
Then, our turn, we played a small video to show how china’s main land changed from the first ancient empire with slavery, feudal empire with feudalism to modern china with communism. And we explained what happened at the whole period while the video keep going.
Later, the religion and relationships with neighbourhood country became our hot talking points, i am very happy to their opinions for china and all the information i got, those i never heard before.

FIRST MEETING

15/02/2019
We had the first formal meeting at this day,(all of us are get together)and we talked about the plans of meeting time for next, as well as the meeting topics at least ten times.
The main part of this meeting is that we taught numbers hand writing and pronunciation from one to ten and talked the our stereotype to each others country, dutch and china. For example, we used sex, windmill, tulip to relate to Netherlands, panda, small people, all kinds food is their first impression for china.Definitely, all these are just partial facts, for both side. And the dutch number seems like English, but quite different pronunciation.
We had a nice start.

2nd meeting! (Finnish-Spanish)

For the second meeting we went to the main library Metso. First we went around a bit and checked if there would be any Spanish or Finnish children´s book we could use. We decided to maybe use those later when we are a bit more familiar with the languages.

We started with remembering what we learned last time and then decided to learn small talk and colors. We taught each other different ways to say ‘how are you’, mostly in spoken language. We got a little exited when comparing the inflected forms and I wanted to teach everything about Finnish grammatical cases, but we tried to keep it short and moved to the colors.  After learning all the colors we asked each other the things we just learned so many times that both remembered them.

It was interesting for me that I started to remember some of the Spanish sentences and words, I still don´t remember much but it slowly comes back to my mind.

Watching Movie (CHI-JAP 2nd Meeting)

Today, we had our second meeting in TUT. We watched Japanese movie ‘君の名は’ which is named ‘你的名字’ in Chinese and ‘Your Name’ in English. This is a really famous animation movie released in 2016 and it is loved by people all around the world. I think there are many people who have watched it already. We watched it with Chinese subtitle and after watching we checked some vocabularies and sentences are used in this movie.

I learned Chinese grammar and sentences and got a lot of new things. Chinese also has polite and casual way of saying depend on who I am talking to as other languages have. Today, I could know how to talk friendly. In addition, he taught me tense and I felt it is easier to express than English and also Japanese. I hope we can communicate in Chinese and Japanese gradually.
