Hervanta Hike (English – Finnish/ 3)

We chose one of the coldest days to go for a lovely hike in Hervanta. Thankfully we had Matti with us as it got very dark very quickly…He has a lot of experience in the dark in Finnish Forests. We know this as he shared with us his time in the Finnish defence guard. He was dropped in the middle of the Forest at the age of 19 with a map and a useless head torch (with one battery…) This was really surprising to me as national service is not mandatory in the United Kingdom.

We spoke about lots of finnish words again and I was surprised to learn that Karhu means bear as one of the greatest beers is named…
