PYYNIKIN MUNKKIKAHVILA

First we decided to meet at Cafe Aitoleipä 12.00. I was there one hour before (because of the Easter someone needed to find out is it open, because internet didn’t tell). At 11.45 I went there again, but it was full. I had time, so I tried to find a better place for us (place where we can at least sit). Just 200 meters from Cafe Aitoleipä there is Pyynikin munkkikahvila, and it was not full. I sent a message to every one and we decided to go to Pyynikin munkkikahvila. < —–There you can get Tampere’s best doughnuts by the way 😉

I went inside to wait others, because NYSSE (Tampere’s public buss) was late again. When everyone arrived we started to test our learning by using Quizzlet. We went through all our previous meetings and tried to remember words what we should have learned. I can tell you that mine were bit lost…

Diego did same thing (but of course he tried to remember Finnish words) and he was pretty good. Great job Diego and thank you for our learning 🙂

It`s party time

Topic for the seventh meeting was differences between Finnish and Spanish ways to celebrate.

In Finland is common that when you are young —> your parents organize your birthday parties and all your classmates come to celebrate you to your house. After elementary school, parents are not so ambitious to organize those anymore.

In Spain things are pretty different. When girl turns 15 —> her parents spent a lot of money to organize her birthday parties. There is two ways to do it:

  1. Parties abroad for few friends
  2. Huge parties for 50 to 100 people

More common way is to organize big parties. One show is dancing. There is a rule that dad and daughter dance first and after that other guys can dance with the girl. Other custom is to buy 15 candles for a girl. She gives all those candles to her most important people when they eat birthday cake. Sometimes there is fights when someone doesn`t get a candle (better to choose wisely).

Here is our own party picture for you 😉

Funny thing is that my dad`s dog is called Perro. I did`t know that it means dog 😀

Our fourth meeting was at my place, near to “Tammelan tori”.

I am working as a Nespresso`s promoter and I have a coffee machine. First I offered some dark coffee for all. Funny thing is that I don`t drink coffee, but if you know enough about the product, you can sell it.

Last time we started studying verbs, but we didn`t have time to learn enough. This time we continued with mostly used werbs.

End the end we spent a lot of time scheduling our next six meetings. We all are kind busy with our studies, and it was not easy at all. But now we have clear plan and it makes me relieved.

Coffee time (and water for me).

Best wishes, Minttu <3

Third one

Our third meeting was at the main campus, inside the restaurant (Campus Ravita). We met 4pm Friday afternoon. For me it was just normal, because I do projects for the Proakatemia during weekends also.

First we ate and discussed about last week.  I can see that that more than one week break is not good, because there is too much things to tell and it takes so loooong time before we can move to real learning.

After our last meeting Emmi did Quizlet about our lessons. This time she showed me how to use it ;). Quizlet is an app where we can test yourself and listen pronunciations.

qq

Emmi had done some plans AGAIN for our lecture (she is our angel). Her idea for third meeting was to study weekdays, question words, werbs and We studied weekdays and personal pronouns. We were quite fast and we had time, so at the end we created some question sentences.

See you next time.

Buenas tardes!

Second meeting at Proakatemia, place where I study.

Emmi have prepared a list what we could study this time, even we didn`t asked her to do anything. I really appreciate her way to make thing happen.

First we had our cup of coffee and then we went to one big room with flapboard. We started with small and used sentences. Diego wrote those sentences in spanish to us and Ella wrote same sentences in finnish to Diego. Together we practiced pronunciation.

Second we studied numbers and third colors. We used same method, because it was effective. One hour went really fast and we decided that next meeting will be one and half or two hours.

Chau, nos vemos. -Minttu

Now it starts

In my group we have four people. Here we are:

Three finnish girls

  • Ella (left up corner)
  • Emilia (left down corner)
  • Minttu (it`s me, up right)

One spanish guy

  • Diego (right down corner)

We had our first meeting last Wednesday at Pala Cafe (nice coffee place inside Finlayson area). First we talked about our goals for this course. Our expectations were pretty different. One of us wanted to be spanish master after 10 meetings and some of us game to learn basics. Luckily it took just five minutes and we had a clear view how are we going to move ahead.

Diego already knows some basic words in finnish, but he wants to learn more our simple language. Emilia knows few words in spanish, but me and Ella are true beginners.

We had just one hour time to meet so we needed to move on really quickly. We made  our schedule  for next three months (let`s see how much it changes during this time).  Time flied and two of us needed to go, so we decided to share our personal plans to each other by using One Drive and read those before our next meeting. Looking forward to see you next time.
