I assume that many people would write about this party since there are many students there ūüėÄ

Yes, there are plenty of blog posts about this party! I shall join the trend.

Our gang was also there. During the party, I tried traditional German Christmas snack that were all ‘sweety’. GOOD AS USUAL XD. Then, some Chinese students brought some spring rolls and onion rings there and I somehow forgot the existence of German sweet. GO FOR ASIAN FOOD! I learnt that cultural background was very important and I should take this into consideration when meeting people from all parts of the world.

I also wrote in Tabea’s friend book. I figured that I was not as creative as I would be. I believed that I should take up a hobby to boost my creativity.

I also figured out that I lived quite close to many Chinese exchange students. That they somehow saw me every Tuesday morning was quite surprising for me to hear. Lesson here is that we should take notice of what is happening around us more than focusing all our intention to cellphones.

I think that is pretty much for what I learnt for this party. The remaining of it, should I keep it to myself only?

De helaasheid der dingen

On the second to last time we watched a film with Bryan. It’s called “De helaasheid der dingen” which translates “The Mistortunates”. IMDb synopsis of the film: “13-year-old Gunther Strobbe grows up surrounded by alcohol, trash and his completely useless father and uncles. Slowly but surely, he’s being prepared for the same hapless life. Can he defy his destiny?” The film won the prize of the best film of the festival both at Film Festival Oostende (near Bruges in Belgium) and also at Istanbul International Film Festival.

In the end I liked the film more than I would’ve thought in the beginning. It is one of those survival films that we have in Finland too. Those kind of depressing film where everyone drinks a lot of alcholol, do idiotic things because they’re wasted and have a lot of meaningless sex that someone who is not supposed to see it sees it and thus the camera captures the ickiness of the whole thing too. Yeah, I don’t like that kind of films but with De helaasheid der dingen, there just was something underneath it, that it actually turned out to bee quite good. And what was the best part was that I was able to recognise the words and even understood some sentences even though they spoke with very thick dialects.

Each One Teach One #9

End is coming.., and for this last “theoretical course”, I mean about the language skills, in French as in Italian, we had only the verbs and the tenses left.

As usual, I know that I’m repeating myself, but that’s important to know, Bea knew already a lot. For her home examination, she has to be clear with indicative and imperative tenses, logically with the¬†negative, interrogative and intero-negative forms as well, and with the auxiliaries. For this course, I had prepared tables, with the different tenses for regular verbs, and a specific one for the main irregular. That’s funny, because, even if French is my mother tongue, I got some doubts, and I had to check if I was right! Finally, it was a good exercise for me too!

Then, I introduce to Bea some tools, to know “when use which tense”. For example, in French, to speak about the past, we can use the “imparfait”, to speak about “long action” which happened in the past, and the “pass√© simple”, to speak about “short action”.

ex:¬†Nous √©tions (imparfait) au restaurant lorsqu’il commen√ßa (pass√© simple) √† pleuvoir.

About our Italian part, Bea had prepared tables too, because I wanted to know, and know how to use, the most common verbs. She taught me, in the present and in past tenses, the verbs: to be, to have, to do, to say, to go, to see, to want, to eat, to drink, to like. Thats right, at the end of the course it was a little bit confused in my mind, because I discovered many things, but in the same time the notes were very clear, so, I should success to learn them!¬†😉

For ou last course, we would like to do something funny, we don’t know what exactly, not yet, but we will let you know in our last article!¬†😊
